Since we're all used to falling down the digital rabbit holes that are Buzzfeed and Youtube videos, I've got a few suggestions to guide you on your descent into insomnia:
1. “Kimbra – Love In High Places Official Lyric Video”: Kimbra's new album The Golden Echo comes out August 15, and I'm very excited about that. She's dropped four tracks already, and even though "Love In High Places" has been out for a while, a new lyric video just dropped this week featuring incredible illustrations by artist Timothy Armstrong. Go forth, enjoy, and become as jealous as I am that we can't all have his incredible artistic abilities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diZEGYsAvJg.
2. “Honest Trailers – Divergent”: Divergent didn't look like a very good movie to me in the first place so I wasn't planning on seeing it, but Honest Trailers reassures us all that we aren't missing anything because we've already seen a better version of Divergent called The Hunger Games. And there are lots of Harry Potter references (just got at least 40% of you to watch it right there): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPUZo3dQSEM.
3. “Tula Lotay Talks About Supreme: Blue Rose”: It's always a good idea to know who makes your comics because more often than not they turn out to be really cool people and you might need to spot them at a Con one day for an autograph. Tula Lotay is working on a new comic with writer Warren Ellis called Supreme: Blue Rose that is sure to be as insane and amazing as all of Warren's other work such as Transmetropolitan and Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. with the added bonus of Lotay's unique and beautiful artwork. You can see a short interview with her that was done at SDCC here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8v4S40pId2Q. If you're in the Charlotte, NC area TODAY Tuesday, July 29th, you can head to the Heroes Aren't Hard To Find comic shop to meet her at a signing You can also see some of her artwork and follow her updates on Twitter: https://twitter.com/tulalotay.
4. “SWIW #3: ‘Fake Geek Girls’- Fact? Or Fiction?”: You're killing me trolls. So, to fully debunk your misogynistic views of women in Geek Culture, I direct you to Cinevore's Society: Why It's Wrong section. And if any trolls have anything else to say, don't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8LFfDbPmD4.
5. “Barbecue From Around The World”: I love food, so showing me food that I'd like from all over the world to give me ideas for things to shove in my face at a later time is right up my alley. Thanks Buzzfeed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrfvgIfj8eM.
6. “Game Theory: Is Comic Con 2014 REALLY Worth The Wait? (SDCC 2014)”: Anyone that loves anything even remotely nerdy has probably been longing to be in the midst of the greatness that is SDCC, meeting celebrities that play their favorite characters, and marveling at the craftsmanship of all of the dedicated cosplayers roaming that nerd mecca. But to make you feel better about not standing in line for days for the slight possibility of getting into a crowded panel, The Game Theorist has used logic to show you that you're probably better off checking the updates on Nerdist.com from the comfort of your dimly lit bedroom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eq8AN9v1BFQ.
Those are some of the highlights of my net surfing this week, so come back next week for more videos to feed your addiction to glowing screens.
