Welcome back internet, how has your week been? I know everyone is prepping themselves for the coming of fall, and by that I'm referring to the onslaught of season premieres that is on its way and not to the changing of leaves. We're trapped behind computer screens all day—who's got time for nature? Until that extra screen you've got sitting in your house that brings you network television goodness distracts you from Netflix and YouTube, here's a few things to watch:
1. “Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart – Trailer” – I love the French for many things (excellent food, plentiful wine, beautiful women like Adele Exarchopoulous), and now Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is yet another wonderful thing I can add to my list. As the title plainly states, the movie is about a young man named Jack with a cuckoo-clock heart, rules he must never break, and an adventure to find a lovely young lady who will inevitably cause him trouble in the best way possible. Nerdist.com posted about this movie last week, but I figured I'd tell anyone that hadn't heard yet. Originally only released in France, we will receive this animated gem created by Mathias Malzieu of the band Dionysos on October 7, so take a day off in 3 weeks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2miHWoMRJY
2. (?????) – Slightly creepy animatronic Rocket Raccoon – James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy posted this clip on his FB page of this animatronic Rocket Raccoon answering reporters’ questions over in Japan. When the robots take over, they'll look like comic book heroes from space, and they'll have very creepy laughs that will drown out your tears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGX0ASNpqMY
For a full view of Rocket, you can skip to the 1:48 mark on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyxQjy4WFIM
3. “Superpowers You Didn't Know You Had!!” – Which is a better way to say "we're gonna trick you into learning about science!" The human body has some pretty cool features though. Did you know you were carrying acid around that's strong enough to melt stainless steel?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2riLrz7DCpQ
4. “History Of: Nintendo” – Here's a brief overview of Nintendo's history from their start making playing cards and running a hotel chain all the way to the release of the Wii U (gotta get one of those). It's important to know your nerd heritage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAX-qfuVHXA
That's it for today, so at the very least I hope you learn something today. Until next week, have fun surfing the internet. Also, you should check out Gotham's season premiere on Monday and let us know what you think of it. I'm still not sure it'll be one of my favorite shows, but Bruno Heller is running the show and he's managed to make a success of The Mentalist for the past 6 years. I've enjoyed the episodes of The Mentalist that I've seen, so I guess we'll see if he can make Gotham City as compelling as playing with people’s minds.
