Another week has passed, and the internet has burned off a few more of my brain cells with digital media. I'm here to show you what I've found in my trip down that rabbit hole. Welcome to While You Were Sleeping:
1. “Neil Gaiman on comics and scaring children, With Françoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman” – Neil Gaiman, the creator of all of your worst nightmares and a guy that seems to be able to write a book every month, talks about why it's ok to scare children (I'm totally on board with scaring anyone). He makes some great points here, especially the part about fairy tales having existed for a very long time, and most of them being terribly scary: http://vimeo.com/109769310
2. “’Two Chips’ / An Animated Short” – We've all had a drunk friend try to tell us a story, or perhaps you were that drunk friend. Well, Adam Patch did the world a favor and recorded his wife telling him a joke about two chips after downing a bottle of wine. Thank you sir: http://vimeo.com/65102146
3. “Well this just happened on The Simpsons” – I don't watch The Simpsons for the most part these days since, in my opinion, there are so many other animated shows that better out there (I love Bob's Burgers). But it's been around for a long time, and every now and then they do something cool like this. Not only did they create anime versions of the Simpsons family with every one as popular characters (Homer as Roronoa Zoro from One Piece, Bart as Naruto, etc.), but they paid homage to other great shows like South Park and Adventure Time. Way to go Simpsons, way to go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNGVaN8FPYw
4. “Honest Trailers - X-Men: Days of Future Past” – I have yet to watch this movie, but I'll get around to it. I'd be more eager if Marvel Studios had a hand in it, but you can't have everything. However, Honest Trailers does us proud and lets us know about all the movies that have already been made that were spliced together to make this one. Love those guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2mi74MLHg4
5. “Accidental Taylor Swift Track Tops iTunes Chart” – Come on Canada! If people are willing to throw money at eight seconds of static instead of previewing a track to see if it's actually worth your cash, I will happily take all of your money. All of it. I don't like Taylor Swift when she's actually releasing music (I actually don't mind her as a person, I just don't like her voice to come through the speakers in my car), but this is so much worse because it means that a lot of people might not actually like what she does either. They may just be blindly following the masses, and that's sad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lymYXREjNk8
There were a lot of great things on the internet, but these are a few things you might have missed. I'm sure everyone is excited about the new Age of Ultron trailer and all of the DC news, but I'm just glad DC didn't successfully make Adrianne Palicki into Wonder Woman because her Mockingbird outfit is sooooo much better. This (http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr211/Veidt/adrianne_palicki_wonder_woman_pilot_3.png) vs. (http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/i/2014/10/22/Mockingbird.jpg). I pick Marvel. See you next week.
